Show us!

Show us a gadget you can't live without.

Hmm, one I CAN'T live without...

First my cell phone came to mind...then I realized I have no idea where it is anyway, so that's out. Then my hand held organizer was next....nope, the batteries died on that thing and I haven't replaced them yet....so not that either. Wait...the remote to the tv....no wait, that's missing/gone on vacation too. My camera?? No, the batteries are dead in that as well...

So, I decided to move on to my kitchen gadgets...my mixer? Maybe, I couldn't find the blades earlier this week...so I had to beat the whip cream into shape by hand..so nope, not that one either. My rice cooker? While it does make my life easier, I can still cook up a batch of sushi rice on the stove top so no...not that either.

On and on it went, going thru each of my "gadgets" trying to figure out which one I couldn't live with out. I guess I don't "need" any of my "gadgets" really.

Go Sox!!! 2007 World Series Champs!

By sweeping the Rockies with a 4-3 victory in Game 4, the Red Sox are champions of Major League Baseball for the second time in four seasons!!

Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia!!!

OMG, these two are awesome! "Ellsbury and Pedroia responded by combining to go 7-for-10 with four doubles and four RBIs, and now history is on Boston's side. All 22 teams that have taken a 3-0 lead have won the World Series." --(See rest of article here!)

pedroia

(and I can't find a picture of Ellsbury hitting, but he was looking really good!)

So, Sox up 3-0!

Woot Woot!!

Show us!

Show us the best coach of all time.

The man is a freaking genius!

  • Coach Belichick is the only head coach in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in four years (2001-04).

  • Coach Belichick's 13-3 playoff record is the second best in NFL history. He trails only the legendary Vince Lombardi, for whom the Super Bowl trophy is named.

  • Coach Belichick's Patriots teams own all of the major winning streaks in NFL history: consecutive overall wins (21 from 2003-04), consecutive regular season wins (18 from 2003-04) and consecutive playoff wins (10 from 2001-05).

  • Coach Belichick owns victories over 30 other NFL teams in his seven seasons as Patriots head coach, the most for any NFL head coach since 2000.

  • With 33 years of NFL coaching experience, Coach Belichick is the longest tenured among active NFL head coaches.

Omaha Skyline

Isn't she pretty? I love living in a city that is small enough to have that small town feel, but "just" big enough to have a "skyline". I never thought I'd say it..but Omaha is my hometown. I've lived near Omaha for almost 9 years now, and I can't think of any other place that would come close to being as comfortable for me as Omaha/Bellevue. I love knowing where everything is, I love being able to get from one side of "town" to the other in less than a half hour.

Train ride

I just got back from a long trip on a train. Literally.

I took the train from Omaha to Louisville, KY. 24 hours. It wasn't fun in the least bit. The train was stuffy, people were loud and obnoxious and often times scary.

But it was worth it:

liz and I

My sister and I on her wedding day!

liz jarion

Her and her groom

I'd take a 48 hour train ride to be there for her again. Congratulations little sister...welcome to the family, JJ!

Dan Brown is da Man!

Angels and Demons:An ancient secret brotherhood.

A devastating new weapon of destruction.

An unthinkable target.

When world-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a mysterious symbol -- seared into the chest of a murdered physicist -- he discovers evidence of the unimaginable: the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati...the most powerful underground organization ever to walk the earth. The Illuminati has now surfaced to carry out the final phase of its legendary vendetta against its most hated enemy -- the Catholic Church.

Langdon's worst fears are confirmed on the eve of the Vatican's holy conclave, when a messenger of the Illuminati announces they have hidden an unstoppable time bomb at the very heart of Vatican City. With the countdown under way, Langdon jets to Rome to join forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and mysterious Italian scientist, to assist the Vatican in a desperate bid for survival.

Embarking on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra follow a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that snakes across Rome toward the long-forgotten Illuminati lair...a clandestine location that contains the only hope for Vatican salvation.

An explosive international thriller, Angels & Demons careens from enlightening epiphanies to dark truths as the battle between science and religion turns to war.

--I picked this up because I love Dan Brown. I started with his novel "Digital Fortress" and have loved his style of writing ever since. It's not as popular as "The Da Vinci Code" but it's right up there in my mind. You can't have one and not read the other.

Friday Night Lights

Friday Night Lights: H. G. Bissinger'

exquisitely written account brings into sharp focus the bitter struggle between sports and education in Odessa, Texas, as well as in high schools and colleges nationwide.

--Very well written and one that I suggested to a few people looking for a good read that while not overly mind-stimulating, still makes you stop and think every now and then.

uggh

I has surgery a few years ago to remove a cyst on my wrist...and I guess it didn't "work". Every once in a while the cyst comes back, and normally goes away rather quickly (1-2 weeks). This time however, it's not. It's been over 2 months! While the swelling goes down every once in a while, the cyst is still there. I can feel it, and I can see it when I bend my wrist in the right way. It normally wouldn't bother me, but this time--It HURTS! It aches constantly, and I can't seem to get a good grip on things with that hand.

I know I need to make an appointment to get it looked at again, but I really don't want to have to go thru the whole process of getting it drained, it coming back, draining it again...then finally ending up at the surgeon, just to have it splinted for 3 weeks again and then having to do the whole process again in 2 years when it goes back.

Gaaah. I'm tired, I'm achy...Good night.
